A Dentist Serving Charlotte for More Than 30 Years
Dr. Porter founded his private practice in Charlotte shortly after he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree in 1992. He is proud of the fact that he built the practice from the ground up. Today, it has evolved to become a family-run practice as Dr. Porter now works alongside his son, Dr. Robert Porter. Some of his patients have been coming to him since the office opened and we're proud to treat generations of families.
When Dr. Porter looks back on the most rewarding moments in his career, many involve helping someone change the trajectory of their life with a new smile. Dr. Porter says an important part of being able to make these changes possible is continuing education. He has studied at prestigious institutions such as Spear Education and the Dawson Academy.
"As a dentist, you have to keep doing continuing education if you want to be confident at a really high level. Now, 30 years in, I’m still seeing ways to get better."
Dr. Porter comes from a family of healthcare providers, including his father, an MD.
"I always favored the sciences, and I enjoyed working with people. I also wanted to work for myself. All of those combined led me to a career in dentistry."
Today, Dr. Charles Porter treats patients alongside his son, Dr. Robert Porter, who earned his doctorate from Adams School of Dentistry at the University of North Carolina in 2020.
Outside of the Office
When Dr. Charles Porter isn't providing advanced dental care, he and his wife enjoy spending time with their four children and three grandchildren. When they have time, he and his wife enjoy spending time on the coast.
