Conceal a Wide Variety of Dental Imperfections

Dental veneers are often recommended for a single tooth or teeth that are:

During your consultation, Dr. Porter will perform a comprehensive evaluation of your bite to determine if porcelain veneers can accomplish your goals.

Misalignment May Require Orthodontic Treatment

If you suffer from moderate to severe misalignment, veneers are most likely not the best solution for you. Typically, orthodontic treatment will be recommended to correct cases of significant malocclusion because it can affect the health of your bite. In some cases, Dr. Charles Porter and Dr. Robert Porter may suggest Invisalign®, which they can oversee at their office in Charlotte; however, traditional braces may be necessary. Whatever your needs, you can rest assured that our dentists will always make your best interests a priority when planning your treatment.

Traditional or Same-Day Veneers Which Is Right for You?

Smiling man with veneers

Traditional Veneers

Typically, Drs. Charles and Robert Porter prefer and recommend traditional porcelain veneers for most patients because they are a more personalized treatment that allows for the greatest aesthetic enhancement. This process usually requires two appointments at our dental practice in Charlotte.

Smiling woman with veneers

CEREC Veneers

The most obvious advantage of these veneers is that they can be provided in a single appointment. Our dentists most often recommend CEREC® for a smaller number of veneers or less complex cases that can be handled without a lab's assistance.

Dental Veneers vs. Teeth Whitening Which Option is Right for You?

Several cosmetic dentistry treatments can help enhance your smile, and veneers won't necessarily be what we recommend to you. Our experienced dentists can help you determine which treatment or combination of treatments is the best way to achieve your desired look.

For some patients, teeth whitening is a viable and cost-effective alternative to veneers that can get rid of surface stains and brighten your smile. This treatment can also be combined with veneers to whiten your natural teeth. Afterward, the veneers can be crafted to match the bright new color of your smile.

What to Expect During the Treatment Process

The placement of your veneer is typically fairly quick; however, Dr. Porter will take as much time as needed to achieve the best possible outcome.

Dr. Charles Porter has provided porcelain veneers for over 25 years.

Typical Timeline

Dr. Charles Porter has provided porcelain veneers for over 25 years.

Consultation

First, Dr. Charles Porter or Dr. Robert Porter will perform an exam and discuss your treatment goals with you.

Planning

One of our dentists will then take impressions of your bite and create a blueprint for the size, shape, and shade of your veneers, customized to each tooth. For traditional veneers, this information will be sent to the lab. Otherwise, we will enter it into the CEREC system.

Fabrication

Same-day veneers will be fabricated quickly during your appointment using CEREC. Traditional veneers typically take two weeks or so to be created and returned to our office.

Placement

Your dentist will apply your veneers to each tooth with the utmost care and make any adjustments as needed for the most flattering results. Your veneers will then be bonded in place using dental cement.

Enjoy Your New Smile Immediately After Placement

/

One of the biggest benefits of veneer treatment is that you can enjoy your new smile immediately after your procedure. There is virtually no downtime and once your local anesthesia wears off, you can eat and speak normally. Feel free to show off your new smile as soon as you step out of our office.

Caring for Your New Veneers

Like your natural teeth, you will have to care for your veneers. But don't worry, it's easy to keep them looking great. With proper care, your veneers can last ten years or longer.
Lady brushing teeth

Follow a Daily Dental Care Routine

An at-home routine can go a long way in maintaining your teeth and veneers. Be sure to brush twice each day, floss once a day, and use an oral rinse to keep bacteria buildup to a minimum.

Patient attending dental checkups

Attend Regular Checkups

Regular checkups with our dentists in Charlotte will allow us to ensure there are no issues with your veneers. We will also make sure your teeth are healthy and strong, and be able detect any oral health issues in the earliest stages.

Taffy

Avoid Certain Foods

Hard foods can damage your veneers, and sticky foods can dislodge a veneer. We recommend avoiding hard, sticky, and chewy foods. If you really want to indulge, make sure and chew with teeth that don't have veneers.

Mouthguard

Wear a Mouthguard

If you play contact sports or grind your teeth (bruxism, we recommend wearing a mouthguard. Trauma to the mouth can cause a veneer to come out of place and bruxism can cause your veneers to wear down over time.

Mix and Match Cosmetic Options To Personalize Your Results

Veneers can be mixed with other cosmetic treatments to create your ultimate smile. When you visit our Charlotte, NC, practice for your consultation, our dentists will review all your cosmetic goals. If you want a dramatic upgrade, they can create a complete smile makeover to address every concern and help you achieve your desired look. In addition to veneers, your makeover can include treatments that:

Brighten Your Smile

Need to add a little sparkle to your smile? Teeth whitening for surrounding teeth may be just what you need to enhance the overall impact of your veneers.

Straighten Your Smile

For misalignment that veneers can't hide, our dentists can design a custom Invisalign treatment plan to straighten your smile before veneer placement.

Shape Your Gum Line

Using a soft tissue diode laser, our dentists can gently trim away excess gum tissue to create a beautiful scalloped edge to frame your teeth.

How Much Do Veneers Cost? Between $800 and $3,000 Per Tooth

Since veneers are a highly personalized treatment, the cost can vary. The industry average for porcelain veneers is $800 to $3,000 per tooth. During your consultation, our dentists will review your cosmetic goals to provide you with a more accurate cost estimate.

Will My Insurance Cover the Cost of My Veneers?

/

No. Unfortunately, dental veneers are an elective treatment that is not medically necessary, so they do not qualify for insurance coverage. But that doesn't mean we can't help you budget for this solution. Contact our office to learn more about our payment options.

Dental Veneers versus Other Cosmetic Treatment Options

There are more affordable ways to enhance your smile than receiving veneers, but depending on your needs and goals, there may not be a more effective way. Our in-house and third-party financing options can make veneers a comfortable fit for your budget so you don't have to compromise. If a consultation reveals that you are a candidate for veneers as well as alternatives, here are some reasons to choose veneers:

A Long-Term Solution

With proper care, your veneers can last for more than a decade. The durability of the porcelain material is far beyond that of the resin of dental bonding. And unlike dental bonding, veneers are stain-resistant.

Natural-Looking Results

Dental bonding treatment by a skilled and experienced dentist can look incredibly realistic, but for results that are indistinguishable from natural teeth, veneers are the answer. This solution is crafted from premium materials that will have others admiring your smile, not your dental work.

Relatively Less Invasive

You can choose to crown a tooth with significant imperfections, but it will require significant alteration of the tooth. On the other hand, a veneer will only require removal of a thin layer of enamel.

For a long-lasting, lifelike smile enhancement, our dentists highly recommend porcelain veneers. The only way to truly determine the best solution for your needs is to request a consultation at our office serving Greater Charlotte.
